In 2006, Environment Illinois Research & Education Center became the new home of Illinois Public Interest Research Group (Illinois PIRG) Education Fund's environmental work, focusing exclusively on protecting Illinois' air, water and open spaces.

Drawing on more than 30 years of experience, our professional staff combines independent research, practical ideas and effective educational campaigns to overcome the opposition of special interests and win real results for Illinois' environment.

Environment Illinois Research & Education Center has been a leader on key environmental issues in Illinois, including mercury pollution, global warming and reducing PBDEs.
