Statement: U.S. House of Representatives passes historic climate investments

WASHINGTON -- Following a summer of extreme heat and drought, the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday passed the Build Back Better Act (H.R. 5376), which includes groundbreaking levels of investment to reduce global warming pollution, clear the air we breathe, clean up toxic sites and protect our lands, waters and wildlife.

Statement: Infrastructure bill will mean cleaner air, water and energy for U.S.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted 228-206 to build a bridge to a brighter future by passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on Friday. Statement: Biden honors U.S. conservation legacy by restoring protections for Utah, New England monuments

President Joe Biden is expected to restore protections Friday for three national monuments. The original boundaries for two Utah areas, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante, and the original protections for the U.S. Atlantic’s only marine monument, the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts, will be reinstated after being stripped during the Trump administration.

New report: Trouble in the Air: Chicago metro area experienced 84 days of polluted air in 2020

Chicago metro area, home to 9.4 million people people, suffered through 84 days of elevated air pollution in 2020, according to a new report from Environment Illinois Research & Education Center, Frontier Group and Illinois PIRG Education Fund. Metro East, the state’s second largest population area, experienced 75 days of elevated air pollution. Air pollution increases the risk of premature death, asthma attacks, cancer and other adverse health impacts.
